The 💾Advanced Employee Import Template is an enhanced version of the standard employee import. It includes all required employee data plus up to nine employer-paid fringe credit entries, which can be used to reduce prevailing wage benefit obligations.
This template is ideal for contractors who want to automate benefit credits—like 401(k), health, PTO, and holiday pay—on a per-employee basis.
👤 Standard Employee Fields
The base structure is identical to the Standard Employee Import Template. You'll include:
- Required columns like ID, First Name, Last Name, Position, Base Rate, Pay Type
- Optional employee profile data like Union, Department, Status, etc.
For a detailed breakdown, see Using the Employee Import Template.
âž• Adding Fringe Credit Columns
After the standard employee columns, you may add up to 9 sets of benefit credits, each defined by four columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Fringe Name X | The name of the employer-paid benefit (e.g., 401k, PTO, Medical) |
| Fringe Amount X | The total value of the benefit |
| Fringe Period X | The unit of time: either hourly or year
|
| Fringe Formula X | The method used to allocate the benefit (e.g., hours worked, divide by 40 per week worked) |
Replace X with a number from 1 to 9. For example:
Fringe Name 1,Fringe Amount 1,Fringe Period 1,Fringe Formula 1.
✅ Fringe Formulas
For these formulas, Tradeseal uses the standard calculation methods. For more information on these, please see Understanding Standard Calculation Methods in HCM TradeSeal .
These are listed under Data Manager > Employees > Imported Benefits.

If we are unable to match a standard calculation method or an employee imported benefit fringe formula, we use the default method of amount / 2080 .
🧠Important Notes
- Fringe benefits defined here reduce your prevailing wage obligation, but do not appear as deductions in payroll
- This import is typically used by companies with Certified Payroll or Davis-Bacon requirements
- Fringe credit fields are optional, but if used, must follow the naming pattern exactly
